You can’t skip this place if you have come to Barcelona. It is an unfinished Basilica, designed by Gaudí, and has been under construction since 1882. It has towers and architecture that is one of a kind. There are many activities to do, such as take a guided tour of the temple and visit each of the towers by going up in the elevator.
You can even visit Gaudí’s tomb. In addition, walking through the crypt is also really cool and you can even go up the narrow stairs that lead to the Torre de la Pasión. Every inch of this Basilica is a part of Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece, and you also get to see one of the greatest pieces of architectural history first hand. It really is a one of a kind opportunity.
La Sagrada Familia is a giant unfinished basilica church that is still under construction. La Sagrada Familia is the landmark of Spain that gets the most visitors in the world with the construction materials that are used for other unfinished Gaudí projects. There is a tower called the Passion Tower and views of the city you can be seen from it.
The Nativity, the Passion, and the Glory facades are at different locations of the church and the facades are of different periods of the life of Jesus Christ. The sculptures and the stained glass are magic, especially when it is sunny. The lighting effects through the stained glass are mesmerizing. The views of the city are marvelous and that is why La Sagrada Familia is a must-see place for everyone.

It is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the architecture, and a little bit of peace in the middle of a busy city.
5: Park Güell: A Unique Mosaic Park in Barcelona:
Park Güell is one of the most popular places to visit in Barcelona. It was designed by the brilliant Gaudí. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is rich in history with colorful mosaics and has lots of buildings that look like they belong in a fairy tale. There are amazing views of the city from the site. On the Escalinata, you can take a stroll or sit and relax on the Banc de Trencadís and take in all of the art around you. The dragon shaped roof and the mosaics on the sections of the buildings give you a breathtaking experience of Gaudí’s incredible imagination.
Park Güell was designed by Antoni Gudi, a well known artist in Spain. If you enjoy art and the outdoors, this park is the right place for you. It is full of beautiful art and it’s a Gudi’s El Drac, which is a large mosaic dragon. You can also find a giant dragon mosaic at the entrance of the park.
Inside the park, you will find the Hypostyle Hall, which is a place of stunning columns. You can relax and enjoy the views of the Hypostyle Hall and the other beautiful mosaics. There are many large mosaics that provide a very surreal experience. Just like the many beautiful views of the park its create a surrounding with perfect experience for travelers. There are a large number of shaded benches available and a lot of nature, which will help you find the even in the busy heart of the city park.
6: Paseo de Gracia, Where Modernism Comes to Life: Casa Amatller, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milá – La Pedrera
One of the best places to catch the heart of Barcelona’s Modernism is Passeig de Gràcia, where you will find the Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (La Pedrera) along with the spectacular designs of Antoni Gaudí and his compatriot, the architect, Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The two implement artistic curvatures and other 20th century pioneering design principles. Lovers of minimalism and Art Nouveau will also appreciate the Modernist articulation of the street and its surrounding structures.

11: Palau de la Música Catalana:
Palau de la Música Catalana is considered one of the finest concert halls in Barcelona, but that does not mean that you have to see a concert to enjoy the stunning architecture of the building. The decoration of the columns, the beautiful mosaics, and the stained-glass ceiling that “emits” light from the “sun” make the venue incredibly photogenic.
However, those are not the only wooden columns, intricate decorations, and multi-colored paintings but it also create an atmosphere which you can never seen any where. However, even walking through the venue may be an experience in itself and even if you don’t like classical music, the venue is a great place for the many of great historical detail that make it famous.
12: Casa Batlló
Casa Batlló is also one of the other masterpieces of Gaudi and it is known for its impressive facade and the combination of vibrant colors of the tiles that make it one of the finest buildings in Barcelona. The entire undulating structure and the facade with the mosaic coating really make that place some of the most enchanting architecture in entire area of Barcelona.
The shop is fitted with stained-glass windows and an array of fantastical hues of blue, green and amber, and this creates an exceptional ambience of fantasy. The entry fee required for a full tour of the building is worth it but even without it, you can freely walk along the Passeig de Gràcia and appreciate the exterior beauty.
13: Montjuïc Castle
Jacobean style Montjuïc Castle opened its doors in 1640. It was a military fortress, and prison, and has seen its share of battles. Free to visit, the castle grounds are even better enjoyed via a cable car (more on that in the next paragraph). Montjuïc hill is the tallest hill in the area and houses the best free view of the entire area as well as a great view of the city, and the coastline. It is a perfect destination if you are in the city and wish to have a beautiful view of the city and rich history.
15: Casa Milà (La Pedrera)
Casa Milà (La Pedrera) is another one of Gaudí’s masterpieces, famed for the beautiful wavy rooftops. The stone quarry inspired façade and dreamy quality chimneys is stunning. La Pedrera is one of the most famous buildings in the city and you are expected to pay to enter it. However, you can appreciate the stunning architecture and design of the building from the street. The roof has great views of the city and the design of the building is so surreal that it is guaranteed to leave an imprint.
16: La Catedral de Barcelona
La Catedral de Barcelona is an incredible Gothic masterpiece that offers an incredible historical story. It is located in the center of the Gothic Quarter, the stone carvings and the old details show the history of the city. The geese in the cloister, the beautiful cross bones, and the 14th century carvings are some of the many treasures, and the oldest in the city. The beauty of the big cathedral shows the roots of culture and religion in the city.
17: The Gothic Quarter:
The Gothic Quarter is the first neighborhood of Barcelona. It is comprised of medieval structures, ancient streets, and old plazas. Many famous sites can be found here like Carrer del Bisbe, Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, and the Temple of Augustus. If you want to see the Plaça Sant Felip Neri, you can see the impact of the bombs and the scars and the stories of the city’s resilience. This place is the most ancient area of Barcelona and can be discovered through walking. Anciet history and preserved buildings can be seen from the city/middle centuries.
18: Ciutadella Park
Ciutadella is your best park for more relaxed and charming, scary life adventures. You can captain a rowboat on the lake, or just feel peace of the palm formations and water features. It is also common for visitor’s to take a picture of the Arc de Triomphe which is located at the entrance of the park. This is a perfect place to be and take a break from the city.
19: Casa Vicens:
Casa Vicens was Gaudi’s first major project and was inspired by Moorish architecture. The facade, which is composed of ceramic tiles of varying colors, is vividly patterned, and the building itself displays a variety of organic curves. Casa Vicens is one of the most playful and creative buildings in Barceona. Gold-painted floral patterned ceilings and curved walls show you a preview of Gaudi’s masterpieces of Modernism. The playful design of the Casa Vicens a very important building in the city’s architectural development.
Barcelona One More Time
Every time I return to Barcelona, I find something new to love—and that feeling never gets old. Whether it’s your first visit or even your fifth visit, time seems to stand still when you walk on the city’s streets. The the way the art and the the architecture stand together is incredible.
Gaudi’s curves and the les and the city being full of art and is just incredible. There is a big local market with lots of live and a lot of other places to inspire you there.
