One of the things I loved most about San Diego is how easy it is to fall in love with the city. I really liked the variety of things to do. There are so many beaches to visit, and the city has so many awesome activities like hiking and kayaking. There are many cultural activities to do and you can go with your partner or your friends to explore the city and have fun together.

The city is always buzzing with activities going on and because of that the high tourist numbers. There are a ton of different activities to do that don’t even cost anything. Everything which starts from the beach to downtown and checking out some events is available.

What I Loved About San Diego?

During my entire stay, I did some walking throughout most of the city and I really like the warm weather and how I didn’t have to pack a huge winter coat. Unlike my home city of Vancouver Canada where it is raining and freezing cold all winter long, San Diego weather is different.

I was walking around in the summer while all my friends were at home in the cold winter complaining about how they have to wear multiple layers. I jumped at the friendly situation to sit on the beach and enjoy the company of the San Diego people. I was lucky enough to have locals take me to Tijuana and even the bus drivers gave me a tour of the city. Everyone was really nice and I really liked my time in San Diego.

There are many different types of transportation including rental cars and public transport in San Diego. For example, you could rent a car to get to both Torrey Pines and the airport. When we were in La Jolla and Pacific Beach, the trolleys and public buses were very helpful, but for the places that aren’t easy to access, a rental car or uber were better options. If you like being in the center of the action, San Diego is a great place to rent to museums and parks. If you want to relax you can always visit the beach.

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a stunning natural preserve with beautiful hiking trails that show off the wildlife and native plants. In Little Italy, there’s Ballast Point Brewing for a local beer, and you can also visit historical spots like Bernardo Winery. There are also winery tours like San Pasqual Winery Seaport Village. Expect to pay about $10 for a beer or glass of wine.

Watching the sunset while the sky switches colors to warm pink and orange shades is an amazing experience.

The trails are of different difficulty levels, and the best part of the hike is that you get to witness the stunning views of Southern California. It can be difficult to find parking, especially over the weekends, but the views are well worth it.

Annie’s Canyon Trail is full of unique hiking experiences. It is a slot canyon trail, meaning you walk through narrow passage ways and up metal ladders. Just over half a mile, the Saigon Trail is a great option for a more difficult hike. A technical trail, you’ll hike down a cliffside with extraordinary views of the ocean and an abandoned futuristic house. This hike is more for the experienced hiker, as the pathway is a narrow descent into a slot canyon.

Although we must respect the privacy of the garden’s owners, Harper’s offers an imaginative addition to the San Diego experience.
